Shân's Story

One of the most interesting and dynamic people that Team Julian honors is Shân Brock. Shân was a truly beautiful, inspirational and remarkable person. She was a superhero, a tiny ball of cosmic energy, joy, and positivity. Shân moved to Old Greenwich with her family in 1999, and set about making a loving home that became embedded within the Old Greenwich community. She was married to Mike for 32 amazing years and had four beautiful children: Harriet, Bryony, Freddie and Brontë.

Shân was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2014. Her diagnosis came completely out of the blue as she had no symptoms. It was undoubtedly one of the darkest day in our lives. However, it was the last sad day that we had because Shân quickly decided that her diagnosis was not going to define her. She was determined to live her life to the absolute full. She gave us all hope, and that was her incredible gift to us.

Throughout her many treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and clinical trials, she always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life. She never missed a party, and any invitation or proposal was always met with "Yes of course we're coming".

Shân found joy in the simplest moments and shared her light with everyone around her. Whether it was through her infectious laughter, her comforting presence, or her unwavering support, she continually inspired us to see the beauty in life, even during the hardest times.

Shan presence and memory will forever live on – her strength and positivity have become the bedrock of our family and community, providing us all with hope and comfort.
